Top Breakout Candidates for Fantasy 2026
Year 2 and 3 is when stars are born.
Year 2 or 3 is historically when players become true difference-makers in fantasy football.
Last season, they were Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chase Brown, and Drake Maye. The breakout window is real, and it's predictable if you know where to look.
Jaxson Dart
After week 5, Dart scored more fantasy points per game than Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, and Joe Burrow. Mostly without his elite WR1 and stud RB1. He's a true top-8 dynasty QB. The draft added OL Mauigoa and WR Fields to help.
Luther Burden
Since week 12, Burden led Bears WRs in catch percentage, receiving yards, target share, and EPA. In week 17 he exploded for 27.8 points as the WR1. Then he dominated the playoffs. Now without DJ Moore, he's the leading year-two WR breakout candidate.
Oronde Gadsden
One of the most impressive rookie TE seasons we've ever seen. From weeks 6–9 in 2025, Gadsden averaged 17.9 fantasy points per game (TE2), 377 receiving yards (TE1), and 229 air yards (TE2). In 2026 the Chargers have Mike McDaniel as new OC, Herbert still elite, and the offensive line fully healthy.
Caleb Williams
Mini-breakout in 2025: 5,008 total yards, 34 total TDs, QB6 finish. In the regular season he threw for 3,942 yards with 383 rushing yards and 30 total TDs. For 2026 he has elite coaching, elite weapons, and an elite offensive line. No reason he can't finish top-3.
